McCain proves Able

"No man - no problem."
Following the fashion of American Politics of the moment, this post will be frenetic, confusing, esthetically unsettling and difficult to categorize.  The fever dream of Trump becoming President continues to intrude on my waking hours.  A constant childhood suspicion of mine - that The Twilight Zone television series was basically real, and that someday when you grew up, they would let you in on it - was obviously something I should have paid closer attention to.
"I prefer people who weren't captured."
"Let's return to regular order."

When a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight - it concentrates the mind wonderfully.

It is not ironic that most of our better known American heroes are soldiers. So long Johnny.  There aren't too many Republicans left who you'd want to have a beer with.  Now most of them are just guys you might consider shooting up with - providing they had the dope. But most Republican members of Congress generally don't need to become junkies to behave like craven predators whose needs overpower their humanity.

Many Republicans do engage in a signal behavior characteristic of late stage addicts (and the insane). They seem to have simply been born with a skill that addicts spend years developing: The repetitive engagement in activities which consistently produce results counter to those intended.

Ask Trump's thug pal running the Philippines what to do when you're having a problem with dope-heads.

When McCain called out Senate Republicans (presumably including himself) and Democrats for playing Russian Roulette with the Republic, he was engaging in a level of on the record candor anyone with a safe Senate seat and a clean bill of health wouldn't have dreamed of.  Call him a hero if you like. I'd be willing to him call him a good oncologist I know.  But I'm sure Senator McCain is one veteran who doesn't get a lot of runaround at the old V.A.

So if it takes holding a gun (or a bone saw) to his temple to get him to start acting like he really believes in Jesus (McCain has claimed variously to be an Episcopalian, a Baptist, and a Christian) I'm happy to stand by and watch.

I'm not hoping John McCain dies of The Brain Cancer.  My own brother just died a few days ago of The Belly Cancer.  I sincerely hope the Senator makes a full recovery.  Apparently his mind seems to have been refocused more to my way of thinking. Perhaps he is more disposed now to granting 20 or 30 million folks who don't have his $100 million in father-in-law money the ability to get chemotherapy.

Next Up:    Will Trump's coming Alzheimer's diagnoses give him pause and move him to begin acting in a more rational and compassionate manner?
